Ludhiana/New Delhi, Oct. 28 (ANI): Supporters of newly appointed ministers celebrated across the country after Sunday's swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
President Pranab Mukherjee administered the oath of office to 22 ministers, including seven of them with cabinet rank.
In Ludhiana, supporters of former Congress spokesman Manish Tewari burst crackers, distributed sweets and shouted slogans after his induction into the Union Cabinet.
Tewari was today appointed as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting with independent charge.
In New Delhi, followers of Ajay Maken, who was made the Cabinet Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, expressed their joy by bursting crackers.
"It is joyous movement for people, his voters and the constituency. Their representative has got a chance to work as Cabinet minister and work for the people," said Radhika Maken, wife of Ajay Maken.
Harish Rawat, who was earlier Minister of State for Agriculture, was promoted to cabinet rank and allocated the water resources ministery.
Salman Khurshid, who was earlier the law minister, was appointed the new foreign minister in place of S.M.Krishna.
India's Vice President Hamid Ansari, chief of the ruling Congress Party Sonia Gandhi, leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj and other dignitaries attended the ceremony. (ANI)
