'Beleaguered' Marsh's career in further shambles following disciplinary slap
Sydney, Oct 24(ANI): Big Bash League team Perth Scorchers captain Marcus North has claimed Shaun Marsh and his younger brother Mitchell Marsh were dumped from the last match of the ongoing Champions League for a breach of discipline, as they didn't reach the standards of preparation that was required of them.
The incident continues Shaun Marsh's sorry run since making a sterling century on Test debut in Sri Lanka last year.
The 29-year-old injured his back in South Africa last November but returned for the series against India only to be dropped after a horror run of outs, which selector John Inverarity described as traumatic.
It's believed the Marsh brothers were not the only players to fall foul of team management for their behaviour in the lead-up to the Scorchers' clash with Indian Premier League franchisee Delhi Daredevils.
The players are understood to have had a big night last Thursday, three days before their next match, while celebrating Mitchell Marsh's 21st birthday.
""All I'll say is there are players that played today and players that didn't play today that let the team down in preparation last week, that's all I'm going to say," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted North, as saying.
"We brought 15 players over for the tournament. This was a dead rubber for us. We wanted to give those guys an opportunity to play in a big tournament like this," he added.
The Scorchers ended a disappointing campaign in South Africa with victory over the Auckland Aces, eliminating the New Zealand team from the semi-finals race, and it was their only win from four matches. (ANI)
