3 killed in Quetta blast

Islamabad, Oct 19 (IANS) At least three security personnel were killed and 11 others injured as a roadside bomb targeted a paramilitary force convoy in Pakistan's Quetta city Friday afternoon, reported Xinhua citing local media.

According to local media reports, the blast took place at about 5.20 p.m. local time when a bomb fixed on a bicycle parked on the Sariab Road of the city was detonated through a remote control device while a convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) was passing by.

The convoy comprised two vehicles and they were on their routine patrol in the city when the blast occurred, said local media.

The blast killed two FC personnel on the spot and injured 11 others, including a woman passerby and FC personnel, confirmed police, adding that one injured FC personnel later died at hospital.

Several vehicles and buildings were also damaged in the explosion.

Several suspects have been arrested in a search operation following the blast, said police.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
