Mangalore, Oct.18 (ANI): Strict security arrangements have been put in place here for the one-day visit of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Gandhi is expected to address prominent leaders of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district and party workers, Congress sources said.

Later she would launch the 'Kudroli Gokarnatha Temple Centenary celebrations' and Mangalore Dasara festivities.

Gandhi will arrive here by a special aircraft by 4 p.m. and is expected to return to Delhi by the evening.

This is her second visit to Karnataka in the last six months. In April, she took part in the Guruvandana programme and birthday celebrations of centenarian Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, the pontiff of Siddaganga mutt in Tumkur.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwara and Opposition leader in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah will brief Gandhi on the present political scene in Karnataka, the Cauvery issue and also the internal bickerings in the ruling BJP. (ANI)
