Government extends the scope of assistance for poor patient
Dr. A. K. Walia, Health and Family Welfare Minister has said that Government has decided to extend the scope of the financial assistance for the treatment of poor patients under Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme. This decision was taken today at the Governing Body meeting of Delhi Arogya Kosh under his Chairmanship.
According to Dr. Walia the benefit of the Delhi Arogya Kosh to the pensioners of all categories who fall within the eligibility criterion of the scheme. He further informed that it has also been decided to release assistance to patients who are getting assistance from other sources like Prime Minister Relief Fund also.
He informed that government has sanctioned financial assistance amounting to Rs.26.25 lakhs in respect of 15 cases under Delhi Arogya Kosh. Out of these cases, 4 were from AIIMS, 3 each from G.B. Pant and Lok Nayak Hospital, 2 each from Safdarjung and RML Hospital and one from Dr. Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan.
The financial assistance of Rs.2.79 lakhs was sanctioned in respect of 3 cases under Delhi Arogya Nidhi. Out of these 2 cases were from Lok Nayak Hospital and one from Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. The diseases for which financial assistance has been sanctioned in the aforesaid cases include valve replacement, bonemarrow transplantation, cochlear implantation surgery, knee replacement and hemodialysis.
Health Minister added that during the current financial year 2012-13, the financial assistance amounting Rs.80 lakhs and Rs.12.35 lakhs has been released under Delhi Arogya Kosh and Delhi Arogya Nidhi schemes respectively.
