Taliban local leader killed in northern Afghan province

Kabul, Oct. 15 (Xinhua-ANI): The NATO-led forces have confirmed killing a Taliban local leader Qurashi in Kunduz province 250 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, the alliance said in a statement released here on Monday.

"Afghan and coalition forces today confirmed the death of Taliban leader Qurashi from a security operation in Kunduz province, Saturday," the statement added.

Qurashi, also known as Baz Khan and Zubair, was a Taliban local leader specializing in the use of improvised explosive devices ( IED) and was directly involved in planning and executing IED attacks, the statement further said.

Taliban militants fighting the Afghan government and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment. (Xinhua-ANI)
