Baba Ramdev welcomes probe by govt. to trace missing mentor

New Delhi, Sun, 14 Oct 2012 ANI

New delhi, Oct.14 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has welcomed a Government of Uttarakhand initiative to probe the disappearance of his mentor, Guru Shankar Dev Singh.

Baba Ramdev had earlier lashed out at the government for allegedly levelling charges against him of being complicit in the act and termed them as baseless.

He observed that he would be writing a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to set up an inquiry probing into the enterprises owned by him.

"We would be writing a letter to Indian President and Prime Minister appealing them to order an inquiry by a sitting judge of Supreme Court which will probe against Acharya Bal Krishna, Swami Ramdev along with all the trust and earnings and which could also probe about various allegations relating to Yoga or political ventures," said Baba Ramdev.

He also said that he had been going from door to door ever since his mentor had disappeared mysteriously in 2007.

"At least somebody would have known if I ever had any tensions with my mentor. Both my gurus Shankaracharya Pradyum ji and Shankaracharya Baldev ji are alive and in fact all the friends of my mentor Guru Shankar Dev Singh are also alive; so, they can go and see that I have never even spoken to him in high volume. So, levelling such allegations is grave injustice and sin," added Baba Ramdev.

He accused the ruling Congress party of deliberately framing false charges against him with an aim to malign his image.

"We just want see that till what time they will hide the truth. They have crushed and finished all those who raised their voices against them. But what can they do with Baba. If they want they can take off his clothes and even if they do so, I will remain nude and but will continue to expose them," said Baba Ramdev.

Reportedly, Guru Shankar Dev Singh, mentor of Baba Ramdev had gone out for a morning walk on July 16, 2007 and never returned to his ashram in Haridwar.

It is also said that Guru Shankar Dev Singh had chosen Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna as his disciple-successors. Both were quite close to him.

Baba Ramdev had filed the missing report back in 2007 but Singh could not be traced.

Police have conducted several inquiries, including questioning ashram inmates and people. Since there was no positive response, the police opted to close the case in 2012. (ANI)
