The dengue cases in Odisha are still on rise despite remedial measures. According to an Odisha government official 80 more people in Odisha tested positive for dengue in the last couple of days. This number has taken the dengue cases to in the state to 1,707 this year.
However the number of deaths due to this disease remained at four with no new death reported from any part of the state, M.M. Pradhan, joint director of the state health department has been reported telling by IANS.
A large part of the new cases were reported from the worst hit districts of Balasore and Ganjam, he said, adding the patients were receiving treatments at home.
Pradhan also said that trained volunteers were making people aware in the dengue affected areas.
At least 33 people were killed, most of the deaths were reported from Talcher area of Angul district, by the viral disease last year. This year, however, the number of patients reported from this region has remained negligible, Pradhan explains.
