13 dead in Bangladesh storm

Dhaka, Oct 11 (IANS) At least 13 people, including a 10-year-old child, were killed Thursday when a storm lashed several regions of Bangladesh.

Seven people were killed in Noakhali, three in Bhola and three in Chittagong, the Daily Star reported.

The storm also destroyed mosques, educational institutions and more than 200 thatched houses. It uprooted trees that led to disruption of road traffic.

Electricity supply was disrupted in many places following the storm.

Three of the deceased were identified as 10-year-old Sharmin and 55-year-old Nur Jahan of Subarnachar, and 45-year-old Rajeshwari Das of Hatia.

Fourteen cattle were also killed during the storm. More than 1,000 fishermen with 100 trawlers were missing, the report said.
