Lahore, Oct. 9 (ANI): Former Pakistan premier and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani has decided in principle to quit his party and join Pir Pagara's Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), following serious differences with the Presidency, sources have revealed.
According to sources in the PPP, Gilani has come to believe that the person responsible for the disgrace of his family and himself was in the corridors of power, reports the Daily Times.
After quitting the PPP, Gilani would prefer to join the PML-F, as it would be an appropriate platform for him to prove that he was a superior politician, the sources added.
It is worth mentioning that PML-F's Pagara is a close relative of Gilani, as the latter's eldest son Abdul Qadir Gilani had recently married Pagara's granddaughter. One of Yousaf Raza Gilani's aunts also belongs to the Pagaro family.
Sources said Gilani would not join the Sharif brothers as they already had many heavy weights in the party and Gilani was unlikely to get a position akin to that of Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar and Pervez Rasheed.
The PPP was still trying to address the reservations of Gilani, and the party leadership has designated two federal ministers, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Rehman Malik, in this regard, the sources further said. (ANI)
