Di Matteo warns Chelsea players to respect rules or face action

London, Oct 8(ANI): Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has warned his players to respect rules set by the club as well as the Football Association (FA), and also reminded them of the value of the club's public image.

Di Matteo will fine Ashley Cole for abusing the FA on social media website Twitter and John Terry could face internal disciplinary action when the legal process dealing with his verbal attack on Anton Ferdinand finally ends.

"I come from Switzerland, I like rules. They are there to be respected. I wouldn't say I'm a disciplinarian but you need rules to be able to live and work together," the Daily Mail quoted Di Matteo, as saying.

"The image of the club is very important to us. We have rules and if anybody breaks them there is disciplinary action taken against them. We have standards. We strive to have high standards. Hopefully going forward we can be better in showing those," he added.

Terry has until October 18 to decide whether to accept the FA's four-match ban for aiming a racial insult at Anton Ferdinand. (ANI)
