Salman Khan flags off Indo-Tibetan Border Police marathon in New Delhi
New Delhi, Oct 7 (ANI): Bollywood actor Salman Khan flagged off the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) marathon run here today to motivate youth to join the security forces.
The marathon titled 'Run For The Nation' was 21 kilometres run and around 25,000 people participated in the run.
The aim of the run was to make general public aware about health and to inspire the youths to contribute to nation building and to participate in national-international sports events with zeal.
Special teams of volunteers were deployed and medical facilities in case so many people actually hit the running track were also put in places.
The winner of the marathon, Sandeep Kumar, said he was practicing from last seven to eight years.
"I am practicing from last seven to eight years. Before this, I had won the Airtel marathon 2009 and last Sunday, I came fourth in the Indian category of Airtel marathon 2012," said Kumar.
ITBP guards the India-China border, from Jammu and Kashmir in the north to Sikkim in the northeast. (ANI)
