UK hate cleric Abu Hamza finally deported to US after last appeal against extradition rejected

London, Oct. 5 (ANI): Radical preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri and four other terror suspects, who have spent years in the UK by delaying their extradition process to face charges in the United States, have finally been deported from British soil.

The deportation of Hamza and four other terror suspects came after their last and final appeals against extradition to the US was rejected by British law officials.

"I can confirm that tonight two planes have left RAF Mildenhall to transport Abu Hamza, Babar Ahmad, Adel Abdul Bary, Syed Ahsan and Khalid al-Fawwaz to the US to face trial," the Telegraph quoted UK Home Secretary, Theresa May, as saying.

"I am pleased the decision of the court today meant that these men, who used every available opportunity to frustrate and delay the extradition process over many years, could finally be removed," she added.

Earlier, Hamza's lawyers, who have already earned more than half a million pounds in legal aid from representing him, had halted the hook-handed cleric's extradition, which had been approved by the European Court of Human Rights.

However, their argument that his physical and mental health had deteriorated so much that he was not fit to stand trial on terror charges, was dismissed by senior judges.

Between 1999 and 2006, the men were indicted on various terrorism charges in America. Hamza has been charged with 11 counts of criminal conduct related to the taking of 16 hostages in Yemen in 1998, advocating violent jihad in Afghanistan in 2001, and conspiring to establish a jihad training camp in Bly, Oregon, between June 2000 and December 2001, the paper said.
