Myanmar to hold tourism meet in 2013

Yangon, Oct 6 (IANS) Myanmar will hold an international tourism conference next year.

The Feb 26-28 event is aimed at promoting the country's tourism industry.

The conference, jointly organised by Myanmar Tourism Federation and Sphere Conferences of Singapore, will focus on investment opportunities, Xinhua reported Saturday.

Chua Wee Phong, chairman of Sphere Conferences, said foreign investors are interested in Myanmar's tourism industry.

According to the tourism ministry, the number of tourist arrivals in the country reached 800,000 in 2011, up by 3 percent compared to 790,000 in the previous year.
