Three highway projects worth Rs.3,000 crore approved

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) The union cabinet Thursday approved upgradation of three highway projects under various stages of the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP) with a total outlay of Rs.3,073.22.

The cabinet committee on infrastructure (CCI) in its meeting here approved development of Handia-Varanasi section of (national highway) NH-2, Kashipur-Sitarganj section of NH-74 and Hubli-Hospet section of NH-63.

The Handia-Varanasi section of NH-2 will be developed as a six-lane road under NHDP Phase-V on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) toll collection mode, with a total length of 72.398 km.

The Kashipur-Sitarganj section of NH-74 will be developed as a four-lane road under NHDP Phase-IV on a DBFOT toll collection modal way with a total length of 77.20 km.

The Hubli-Hospet section of NH-63 in Karnataka will be developed as a four-lane road under NHDP Phase-IV on DBFOT basis with a length of 143.29 km.
