Lanka set Pakistan 140 target in T20WC semi-final

Colombo, Oct.4 (ANI): Sri Lanka has set Pakistan a target of 140 to get in the first semi-final of the Twenty20 World Cup.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka could manage to score on 139 runs for the loss of four wickets.

The main contributors to the Sri Lanka total were skipper Mahela Jayawardene with 42 and opener Tillekeratne Dilshan with 35. Jayawardene struck seven boundaries in his innings, while Dilshan struck three. Kumar Sangakkara scored a quick 18 before being caught in the deep. Jeevan Mendis scored 15.

Thisara Perera scored an unbeaten 11, while Angelo Mathews scored an unbeaten 10.

For Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Gul claimed a wicket each.

At the time of the filing of this report, Pakistan had scored eight without loss in the first over bowled by Angelo Mathews. (ANI)
