Hoping to be jailed, jobless man burns down house

Beijing, Sep 23 (IANS) A man in China has set fire to his own house because he wanted to go to prison.

Under Chinese law, a person could be jailed for life or sentenced to death for arson. Yang's house in Hubei province's Wuhan city was last week engulfed in a huge fire.

The 42-year-old unemployed man lives with his parents, the Global Times reported.
