Police destroy Maoists' arms factories in Bastar

Raipur, Sep 20 (IANS) Police and para-military troopers raided a Maoists hideout Thursday in Chhattisgarh's restive Bastar region and destroyed three arms factories, a senior officer said.

"A joint team of Central Reserve Police Force, Special Task Force and district police jawans (troopers) was sent on search operation from Farsegarh police station in Bijapur and demolished the hideout of Maoist ultras where they were running three arms factories," Bijapur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal told reporters.

He added that about 100 kg of explosives were recovered during the raid which went on for more than an hour.

Meanwhile, the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has announced to observe a weeklong anniversary from Sep 21 to mark the 8th foundation anniversary of the party.
