Pak court puts top ISI, MI, police officers on notice in missing persons cases

Peshawar, Sept. 19 (ANI): The director generals of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Military Intelligence (MI), along with the top police officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been put on notice by the Peshawar High Court in the missing persons case, and has directed them to explain their position about the whereabouts of these untraced people.

A division bench has issued notices to the top brass of the spy agencies and the police officials, including Provincial Police Officer and Chief Capital Police Officer in the cases of 17 missing persons and fixed October 23 for the next hearing, The News reports.

The bench also directed the defence and interior ministries to check and verify the missing persons whose cases were pending in the courts.

When the court asked about the process of verification of missing persons with the intelligence agencies, Wing Commander Irfan said they were checking the missing persons directly with the ISI, but verifying their whereabouts with the MI through the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The bench first took up the new cases of 17 missing persons mostly filed by women against the enforced disappearance of their husbands and sons. (ANI)
