Michelle Obama to reveal President's 'personal side' during Democratic National Convention

Washington, Sept. 4 (ANI): When US First Lady Michelle Obama takes the stage at the Democratic National Convention she's is going to promote President Barack Obama and make his personal strengths clear to voters.

According to the New York Daily News, Michelle Obama has come a long way since her convention address in Denver four years ago, when she was tasked with convincing a reluctant public that she was more than what she said in her words.

She is now a known commodity for Americans and world.

There have been lingering questions about her patriotism, which led her to declare unequivocally, "I love this country" when she addressed delegates and the nation in Colorado.

She later ended up explaining her fist bump with the future president, too.

Four years later, Obama's now much more of a household name.

According to the report, she has taken fitness and healthy eating as one of her personal causes, and she's the yardstick by which the style, or lack thereof, displayed by her international counterparts is measured.

The situation - and the stakes - are different now, so watchers predict the now-First Lady will take a revamped approach to send a new message.

"In 2008, Michelle's job was to (a) soften her own image and (b) humanize her husband and make her seem like a more ordinary person who shared the same values as other Americans," says Michael Cohen, a fellow at The Century Foundation.

"This time is different in the sense that she's well-known and pretty popular, so while I expect it will be a softer speech - probably no harsh attacks - it will be an effort to promote Obama [and] play up his personal strengths as President," Cohen said.

What's more, he added, "it will come from a starting place where she is far more popular than was the case in 2008." (ANI)
