Delhi Annshri Yojana to be launched on October 2

New Delhi, Sept 3 (ANI): Delhi Annshri Yojana will be launched on October 2, chief minister Sheila Dikshit announced here on Monday.
The scheme aims to provide relief to over two lakh families presently not covered under the PDS. The families other than BPL and Antyodaya cardholders will be provided cash transfers of Rs. 600 per month to be directly transferred to the senior most female member, to purchase foodgrain of their choice.
Dikshit, while laying the foundation stone of a community centre to be constructed by the DDA in Kishangarh, said that with the launch of Annshri Yojana, all 6 lakh families will come under the ambit of food subsidy as 4 lakh families are already under PDS. This will go a long way in making Delhi a hunger free state.
She further stated that her government might give 4 lakh BPL and Antodaya cardholders a choice to continue to avail benefit of PDS ration or opt for cash assistance of Rs. one thousand per month.
Talking about the Kerosene Free Delhi scheme, launched last month, Dikshit said an amount of Rs. 3409 is being spent on giving a gas connection, LPG connection, filled gas cylinder to a poor family in order to make Delhi the first Kerosene Free City in the country.
More than two lakh families are being covered under Delhi Kerosene Free scheme.
Also present on the occasion were the Speaker, Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Dr Yoganad Shastri, Local M.P. Ramesh Kumar, former MLA Vijay Lochav, DDA Vice Chairman Sanjay Srivastav and Jag Pravesh Kumar.
Dikshit added that her government wanted to extend modern facilities to rural parts. She stated the new Community Centre would become a landmark as far as rural belt is concerned. The three-floor structure wil have a basement, an underground parking and elevators.
She stated that a world class Liver Institute is functioning in the locality. The village and Vasant Kunj is being served by the existing Chhatarpur Metro Station and another line from Janakpuri to Kalindi Kunj would also be touching Vasnt Kunj.
The government has decided to commission 14 Mono Rail routes in Delhi to supplement the local transport system. This would result in the facility of local transport being available in every nook and corner of the city.
The chief minister added that Delhi is the only city in the country to provide twenty-four hour assured power supply in the villages and the urban parts. "We are keen to extend the duration of water supply across Delhi. The government is working in this direction," she said.
She also referred to the decision to regularise over 900 unauthorised colonies that would bring a sea change in the development scenario of the city.
Speaking on this occasion Dr. Shastri stated that the need of such a Community Centre in Kishangarh was being felt from the last many years. It would be constructed over an area of 2000 sq meter and would have in all 3400 sq meter covered area. It will cost Rs. 8.64 cr. and would comprise of a basement, ground floor, three more floors, three halls, three banquet halls, three kitchens, a gym, two guest rooms and an office.
He further stated that Delhi has witnessed unprecedented development in the last 14 years, and the Chief Minister is taking care of the facilities required by the villages. (ANI)
