BJP going through seven-year itch: Congress

Ludhiana , Sat, 01 Sep 2012 ANI

Ludhiana, Sept 1 (ANI): Dismissing the rumours of early general elections, the Congress party on Saturday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the latter is going through "seven-year itch."

Interacting with mediapersons here, Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said, "People have given us a mandate for five years, and we will complete our term. There are no facts behind these reports (of early polls). BJP is going through seven- year itch. We can't oblige them."

He termed the CAG report on the alleged coal scam incorrect, and accused the CAG of working in tandem with the BJP.

"There is no corruption, facts presented by CAG are wrong and baseless. Their method to ascertain the facts, and their results are baseless. CAG and BJP are two facets of the same coin," he alleged.

Further, reacting to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's comments on the people of Bihar, Tiwari said that every person in the country is free to move and stay anywhere.

He said that such tendency needs to be combated as it disturbs the "idea of India."

"All the citizens of India have right to live in any corner of the country. Many people are used to give these types of statements for getting cheap publicity. It weakens the idea of India. We need to fight a political and ideological battle against this mentality," Tiwari added. (ANI)
