Washington, Aug 31 (IANS) An armed man Friday opened firing inside a shopping plaza in New Jersey and was later shot down by police in a shootout, a media report said.
Police shot dead the man suspected of being involved in the shootout inside the Pathmark supermarket on Route 9 in Old Bridge, N.J.
Police responded to the gunshots and there was a confrontation with the gunman, reported ABC citing WABC-TV.
The suspect was apparently wearing body armour.
It is not yet known how many others were killed before police responded.
