Custodial death case: Three Delhi policemen, one ex- govt. official sent to jail by court

New Delhi, Aug.30 (ANI): An additional sessions court here, has sentenced two former Delhi Police sub-inspectors-Satish Kumar Kadain and Inder Singh Rana, and constable Ramesh Chand to ten years rigorous imprisonment and leveled a fine of Rs.25,000/-each on them.
The court also sentenced former senior scientific officer of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Kewal Kishan Arora to three years rigorous imprisonment and leveled a fine of Rs.5, 000/.
The four were sentenced in connection with the custodial death case of Gopi Ram.
The court said the fine of Rs.25,000/- each shall be paid by way of compensation to Kashmiri Devi, the widow of the deceased.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered a case relating to death of Gopi Ram in police custody on the directions of the Supreme Court of India based on a criminal appeal filed by Sudesh Kumar in 1988.
Gopi Ram died in police custody on August 24,1986. (ANI)
