New Delhi, Aug.28 (ANI): The Delhi Government's decision to regularize 917 unauthorised colonies has been welcomed by the over 40 lakh residents living in them.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today described the decision as a red letter day in the history of the national capital.
She said that her government had been able to resolve the vexed issue of unauthorized colonies, and added that residents need no longer fear about being evicted from what were once unauthorized colonies, as these had now become a thing of the past.
Conveying her gratitude to the Union Government on behalf of the residents, Dikshit stated that her government would now act swiftly in providing all civic amenities as already provided in the developed colonies across Delhi.
She clearly explained that the residents were forced to settle down in unauthorized colonies, as there was no other alternative available due to shortage of dwelling units in the city.
"Our stand from the very beginning was crystal clear that not a single colony would be demolished and the residents would not be uprooted. We are grateful that the Union Minister of Urban Development, Shri Kamal Nath has been kind enough to appreciate the difficulties of the residents of unauthorized colonies," she said.
"The process of issuance of the notification is on. It is expected that the notification will be published by tomorrow after receiving the Lieutenant Governor's concurrence," she added.
"Our Government believes in action and would never like to involve itself in hallow promises and announcements," the chief minister said. (ANI)

I also hope that govt.will take positive step for remaining 722 colonies for the welfare of those poor people who are living in them. however development work may be slow but any demolition should not be done.I again pray and wish to success in election for these both govt. in next time also.
