Mancini hopes Balotelli doesn't repeat last season's Anfield misdemeanors against Reds

London, Aug 25(ANI): Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has expressed hope that striker Mario Balotelli has learned from his experience with Italy at the Euro Cup, and doesn't want him to see another red card at Anfield just like last year.

Balotelli was given his marching orders in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool last November for two yellow cards, just 17 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Mancini believes Balotelli needs to take more onuses for the team, especially with Argentinean striker Sergio Aguero ruled out for a month with a knee injury.

"Mario has a big responsibility because for us he's an important player. We spent a lot of money for him and we are sure that he will do very well for Manchester City," The Daily Star quoted Mancini, as saying.

"In two years he has won the Premier League and FA Cup. I think that he did well. I agree that if Mario plays always like he did at the Euros, it will be better. Mario is the same. I don't think that he can change in one month. Probably this season can help him to improve," he added.

"The European Championship is like the World Cup, one month. Every player goes 100 per cent. I think he can do better for us. I'm sure that he'll improve," he said. (ANI)
