New Delhi, Aug 20 (IANS) It was a sunny Monday morning in the capital with the maximum temperature settling at 27.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average for the season. The met department has forecast heavy showers in some parts of the city later in the day.

"Sky would be generally cloudy. Heavy showers are expected in some areas," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The capital has recorded 2.3 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively," the official added.

Humidity recorded at 8.30 a.m. was 79 percent.

The maximum temperature Sunday was 34.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.
