London, Aug 20(ANI): Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has agreed to sign a new four-year contract with the club, days after Robin van Persie's 22 million pound arrival from Arsenal.
Welbeck has been in talks for months after establishing himself as first-choice strike partner for Wayne Rooney, and is finally ready to put pen to paper.
The deal is further proof of his growing status at United and reassurance he is a key figure in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans, despite Van Persie's capture, The Sun reports.
Welbeck's deal is worth around 50,000 pounds a week, treble his current wages, but it is packed with a variety of clauses and incentives, which could see it rocket to 70,000 pounds.
Welbeck's United days looked numbered when Fergie sent him on loan to Sunderland two years ago, but he exploded back on to the United scene last term and ended the campaign with 39 outings and 12 goals. (ANI)
