New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): The prospect of a third front coming to power after the next parliamentary polls - as predicted by chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP) Mulayam Singh Yadav - was encouraged by SP general secretary Mohan Singh here on Sunday.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mohan Singh said that Mulayam Singh was not incorrect in saying that the two main coalition parties, current ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and opposition, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would not obtain a majority in 2014.
"According to the latest surveys, neither the UPA nor the NDA will get majority, and the parties not part of either of these coalitions are predicted to win as many seats. Hence that party that acquires most seats amongst all regional parties is the natural choice for the post of Prime Minister. In such a scenario, SP will emerge as the strongest contender and for Mulayam Singh to project himself as the next Prime Minister is not wrong," said Mohan Singh.
Meanwhile, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav refused to comment on the statement and said the people of the country will decide the fate of power.
"t is for the people of this country to decide. We cannot predict the result on the basis of statements made by each individual or any survey. There is no point commenting on these things, politicians always say many things," Yadav said.
Mulayam Singh Yadav had stated on Saturday that the next Central government after the 2014 elections would be formed by a Third Front, and added that the Samajwadi Party would be that lucky party. (ANI)
