Oil spill detected off Italy

Rome, Aug 17 (IANS) Some two tonnes of fuel oil spilled into the sea from a ship off the coast of Italy, Xinhua reported Thursday.

The spill was traced to a Turkish ship near the city of Taranto.

The coast guard has launched a clean up operation.

The ship was carrying waste materials.
