Prince William saves schoolgirl from drowning

London, Aug 17 (ANI): Britain's Prince William reportedly led a rescue mission to save a 16-year-old girl from drowning in the sea off the Welsh coast.

The Duke of Cambridge led his RAF Sea King helicopter crew and winched the teenager to safety from the sea off Silver Bay, Anglesey.

"She had scrapes, was very cold, shocked and had swallowed water. She had been in serious difficulties and was very lucky," The Telegraph quoted a rescuer, as saying.

According to the report, the girl got into difficulties after trying to help her 13-year-old sister in the sea off the coast of Wales. Both were taken to hospital in Bangor for a check-up.

After pulling the older girl aboard, the RAF team started searching for her younger sister before they were told she was safe on the shore, the paper said.

Prince William qualified as an RAF search and rescue captain at the end of May after serving as a co-pilot, the paper added. (ANI)
