Sydney, Aug 16 (ANI): Finnish telecom giant Nokia is planning to unveil a smartphone equipped with US software giant Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system in New York on September 5, according to a report.
According to News.com.au, Nokia could also be unveiling its first 'tablet computer' at the event.
The struggling Finnish company, whose new smartphone is due to be released a week before the new iPhone 5, has launched the first range 'Lumia' smartphones after an alliance with Microsoft.
The alliance has helped Nokia to survive in a rapidly changing smartphone market, marked by stiff competition from RIM's BlackBerry, Apple's iPhone and handsets running Google's Android platform, the report said.
The company, which in 2008 enjoyed more than 40 per cent of the global mobile phone market, has been struggling to maintain its leading position that it enjoyed previously for some time now, the report added. (ANI)
