Situation vacant for chauffeur worth the Royals

London, Aug 15 (IANS) A chauffeur's jobs may not get any grander than this, with the British monarchy in search of one to drive Queen Elizabeth II and other royals.

Displayed on the monarchy's website, the advert calls for the new recruit to have tact and diplomacy besides the skills not to jolt your back-seat passenger which, in this case, will turn out to be the Queen, the Daily Express reported Wednesday.

The job offers 23,000 pounds (over $36,000) annually to drive the 86-year-old monarch and other royals.

"You will be responsible for driving members of the Royal Family, Household officials, guests and official visitors," says the job description in the advertisement.

Helping to maintain the fleet of royal cars is part of the job but the ad warns: "To succeed in this role, you will have an ability to deploy tact and diplomacy when necessary."

The new chauffeur will be offered accommodation as part of the package. The post is based at the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace but could entail travel all over Britain.
