US columnist's 'Bolt being drug cheat' claims blasted as 'sour grapes' by fans

Sydney, Aug 15(ANI): Dan Bernstein, who is a Chicago based sports broadcaster and columnist, has accused world's fastest man Usain Bolt of taking performance enhancing drugs.

In his explosive article on CBSChicago.com, Bernstein claimed that anyone lauding Bolt for his record-shattering feats at the London Olympics should be know better, and added that the Jamaican's unprecedented success sets off alarms.

"Anyone wasting words extolling the greatness of Usain Bolt should know better. Even the simplest assessment of the circumstances surrounding the explosive success of Jamaican sprinting... sets off alarms," News.com.au quoted Bernstein, as saying.

Though Bernstein does not directly allege that Bolt is guilty of doping, he pointed out to his training partner and London 100m and 200m silver medallist Yohan Blake, who tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug prior to the 2009 World Championships.

Bernstein also mentioned Bolt's link to a man called Angel Hernandez, a former chemist with the stained American drug company BALCO, which was found to be manufacturing steroids.

"Bolt reportedly has been working with Angel Hernandez," Bernstein said.

Bolt has been found clean in every drug test he has appeared so far, and Bernstein's explosive claims have attracted lots of criticism from fans.

"Really people in glass houses should not throw stones. Maybe they should look back at their own very tainted drug testing history for example athletes not tested during certain times on purpose to ensure that no positive results are returned," a fan from Adelaide said.

Carol from Newcastle said: "USA missed out because of Jamaica. In fact... both claims could easily be argued. Drugs and sour grapes. Neither are cool." (ANI)
