London, Aug 14 (ANI): Members of Japan's women's national football team were reportedly upgraded to business class on their flight home from London where they had gone to participate in the Olympics.
Team members had earlier complained about being treated 'unequally' after they flew in economy class to London, while the Japanese men's football team traveled in business class.
According to the BBC, the Japan Football Association (JFA) said women footballers, who had returned from Britain after losing the Olympic final to the United States, had their flights upgraded for winning the silver medal.
Star player Homare Sawa claimed that her team had been given business class seats last year, but only after they won the World Cup, the report said.
The JFA has been flying male footballers in the business class since 1996, but upgraded the womens' team's plane tickets to London only to 'premium economy' class, it added. (ANI)
