US sanctions Syrian oil firm

Washington, Aug 12 (IANS) The US has imposed sanctions on Syrian state-run oil company Sytrol for providing gasoline to Iran, RIA Novosti reported.

State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell said the new penalties come after the firm delivered $36 million worth of gasoline to Iran in April.

Sytrol was first put under US sanctions last year.
