'Naughty' North Korea livid over Oz tabloid's 'sordid' Olympic 'bullying'

Sydney, August 8 (ANI): A tabloid in Melbourne has angered North Korea after it referred to the nation as 'Naughty Korea' and its southern neighbour as 'Nice Korea' in an Olympic medal tally.

The North Korean media angry at the daily commuter newspaper mX condemned the behaviour of the newspaper, erroneously described as a Brisbane Metro, as 'sordid'.

"This is a bullying act little short of insulting the Olympic spirit of solidarity, friendship and progress and politicizing sports," The Age quoted the statement as reading.

"Media are obliged to lead the public in today's highly-civilized world where mental and cultural level of mankind is being displayed at the highest level. Brisbane Metro deserves criticism for what it has done," the statement added.

The North Korean statement concludes that mX "will remain as a symbol of rogue paper for its misdeed to be cursed long in Olympic history".

An image of mX's version of the medal tally spread across Twitter and blogging site Tumblr since its publication of the article.

In a statement, the editors of the newspaper, published in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, however, said the tally was not meant to be offensive. (ANI)
