London, August 8 (ANI): A football team from Somerset posed without their jerseys in their annual team photoshoot after failing to get a 100,000 pounds-a-year sponsor.
Yeovil team manager Gary Johnson decided that the team should go topless in the photo line-up, where the new season's kit and sponsors are traditionally confirmed.
The League One club is negotiating with several companies and Johnson hopes that the stunt will encourage one of them to sign up.
"I couldn't see the point of a team shot without a sponsor. So, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, we decided we should go topless," the Daily Star quoted Johnson as saying.
"We have had dialogue with several potential sponsors but nothing definite has been agreed yet. Being part of the main team picture is a major part of the sponsorship package.
"I didn't think it was fair to whoever does agree a deal for the team to wear shirts. We don't want to give away any part of the sponsorship package lightly," he said.
All 17 first-team players ditched their normal green-and-white striped jerseys for the photo-shoot, with just Johnson and his staff wearing red tops. (ANI)
