United Kingdom,Sports, Wed, 08 Aug 2012 IANS

London, Aug 8 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Hungary enjoyed a strong morning of competition on the water Wednesday as the women's four won the country's second gold of the day with victory in the K4 kayak 500 metre sprint.

The Hungarian crew of Katalin Kovacs, Gabriella Szabo, Danuta Kozak and Krisztina Fazekas stormed to victory in 1:30.827 seconds, with Germany second and Belarus third.

Kovacs, Szabo and Kozak had all been members of the Hungarian crew that won silver in the same event in Beijing in 2008, while the presence of Beijing gold medallist Katrin Wagner-Augustin in the German team was not enough to take her boat to victory.

The gold was Hungary's second of the day at Eton Dorney after Rudolf Dombi and Roland Kokeny won the men's K2 1,000 metre final.
