Germany takes men's canoe single 1,000m gold

London, Aug 8 (IANS) Germany's Sebastian Brendel took the men's canoe single 1,000 metres gold medal at the Olympic Games here Wednesday.
Triple European champion Brendel finished the race in 3:47.176 seconds, edging Athens gold medallist David Cal Figueroa from Spain into second place in 3:48.053, reports Xinhua.
The bronze medal went to Canada's Mark Oldershaw in 3:48.502.
