Obama praises US women's gymnastics team for 'being so cool'

New York, August 2 (ANI): Barack Obama, who has been both praised and slammed for being "cool", has said that the gold-medal winning U.S. women's gymnastics team has beat him on that score.

While aboard Air Force One en route to a campaign event in Ohio Wednesday, the President phoned each member of the so-called Fierce Five, giving them kudos for being so "cool".

"You just tore it up. I know how hard you worked to get there," the New York Daily News quoted him as telling Gabby Douglas.

"Keep at it. Stay cool," he said.

While speaking with Kyla Ross, he used cool in a different sense.

"I was impressed by how cool you were - I don't know how you do what you do, especially the balance beam," he said.

The Russians fell apart on the balance beam, and sealed their fate in the floor routine, whereas the Americans were poised on the beam and nearly perfect in sealing their victory on the floor.

"Way to nail that vault," he told McKayla Maroney.

"It was unbelievable," he said.

"I'm so impressed by how you bounced back and led the team," he told Jordyn Wieber, who was cut from the individual all-around final before coming back for the team victory.

"Tell your parents I'm proud of them, too. I don't think I could watch if I were them," he added. (ANI)
