London, Aug 1 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Ukraine charged to an Olympic rowing gold in the women's quadruple sculls Wednesday, beating the world champion Germans by clear water.
Ukraine's Kateryna Tarasenko, Nataliya Dovgodko, Anastasia Kozhenkova and Yana Dementieva quickly shot into the lead and never gave the rest of the field a chance, crossing the line in six minutes, 35.93 seconds.
Germany pipped the United States to the silver three seconds behind, while Beijing Games gold medallists China finished fifth. Australia were placed fourth.
