Suicide suspected in NFL player O.J. Murdock's death

Washington, July 31 (ANI): Tennessee Titans receiver O.J. Murdock died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Tampa Bay, Florida on Monday. He was 25.

According to the cops, Murdock's body was discovered in his car in front of Middleton High school, which he attended, at approximately 8:30 a.m.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was declared dead at 10:43 a.m.

According to 'The Tennessean', Murdock didn't report to team Titans training camp last week, Huffington Post reported.

He did not report for training over the weekend and his coach, Muke Munchak, told reporters on Saturday that he "had some personal things come up" but was expecting to rejoin the team shortly.

Hadley Engelhard, Murdock's agent, claimed that the budding star was training and "excited about his opportunities this year" when he spoke to him a week and a half ago.

Murdock, who signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent last year, ended up spending the entire season on the injured reserve list after injuring his Achilles tendon in training camp.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear of O.J. Murdock's death this morning," the team's official website posted.

"In his brief time here, a number of our players, coaches and staff had grown close to O.J., and this is a difficult time for them. He spent the last year battling back from an Achilles injury as he prepared for this year's training camp. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they try to cope with this tragedy," the statement said. (ANI)
