Melbourne, Mon, 30 Jul 2012 ANI

Melbourne, July 30 (ANI): Holi, which originated in India, has now reached Berlin after travelling to USA, UK, Bangladesh, Mauritius and Pakistan in recent years.

The festival is a chance for revellers to dance and play in the streets while being drenched in multi-coloured powder, News.com.au reported.

The traditional religious spring festival celebrated by Hindus in many countries is to say farewell to the winter and welcome the spring and its many rich colours.

The aim of the festival is simple - cover other revellers from head to toe in a myriad of colours.

The paints are purchased on the festival grounds for two euros and there is a limit of 3000 people allowed in. (ANI)
