Left announces agitation for Food Security Bill from Monday

New Delhi, July 29 (ANI): Left parties on Sunday announced to launch a nationwide agitation for legislation of Food Security Bill.
Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja declared that the four left parties - the CPI, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), the Forward Block and the Republican Socialist Party (RSP) will begin five-day sit-in protest here on Monday.
"The four left parties - CPI, CPM, the Forward Block and RSP - have given a joint call to conduct a countrywide campaign on the issue of right to food, on the issue of food security," Raja told reporters here.
"There will be five-day sit-in protest in Delhi. That will start tomorrow. There will be, simultaneously, programme in the state capitals and districts all over the country," Raja added.
He said their main demand is that each family should get 35 kilograms of food grains at a rate of rupees two per kilogram across the country.
"Each family should get 35 kilograms of food grains at a rate of Rs.2 per kilogram all over the country. There shouldn't be any deceptive division of APL or BPL," he said.eanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the government lacks sincerity over the issue.
"The government should have gone ahead on the issue of food security bill after discussion in Parliament," said senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Cabinet has passed the Bill to tackle widespread malnutrition with food subsidies for two-thirds of the country's 1.2 billion population. (ANI)
