Washington, July 28 (ANI): Police in the American state of Maryland have arrested a heavily armed man who called himself a 'Joker' who was going to 'blow everybody up.'

Police 'thwarted a massacre' just one week after the Colorado's movie theater shooting, where James Homes allegedly killed 12 people during the screening of the latest Batman film, 'the Dark knight Rises'.

The suspect, identified as Neil Edwin Prescott in a court document, was being dismissed from his job.

According to the police, he made threatening statements to his supervisor at least twice on Monday, ABC News reports.

Prescott had an arsenal of about 25 firearms at his residence, including semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and handguns.

A police affidavit revealed he also had high powered scopes and magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition in '40 large steel boxes.'

The police said Prescott was quoted as telling his employer that, 'I am a joker, I'm going to load my guns and blow everybody up.' (ANI)
