Indian origin man arrested in Malawi

Accra, July 27 (IANS) A man of Indian origin has been arrested in Malawi for staying in the country illegally and carrying out business without permit, a media report said.

Said Abus, 28, was arrested Monday in the Malawi capital Lilongwe, reported nyasatimes.com.

Acting on a tip-off, police found him at a shop where he was operating a business of selling second hand clothes without business permit documents.

"We have handed over the case to the department of immigration where the accused person will soon appear in court to answer charges," Lilongwe police Public Relations Officer Kingsley Dandaula was quoted as saying.
