Class 10 student dies in accident in Delhi

New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) In a freak accident Wednesday, a 16-year-old boy was killed in Delhi after being struck by an electricity pole when he stuck his head out of the school bus window, police said.

The bus driver has been arrested for negligence. The incident took place around 2.30 p.m. in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh.

"The victim, (a Class 10 student) identified as Jaskiran, resident of Rani Bagh, was sitting in the school bus to go home. He had taken his head out of the window of the bus to buy something when it suddenly moved and his head crashed into the pole," said a police officer.

By the time the driver was alerted by other students in the bus, Jaskiran's condition had become critical.

"He was taken to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital where he was declared dead," said the officer.

The bus driver, identified as Raju, 45, has been arrested for negligence.
