New Delhi, July 25 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India today granted amnesty to former World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev, and welcomed him back to BCCI's fold.

After granting amnesty to Kiran More, the BCCI welcomed back Kapil as the former Indian captain had made a request to the cricket board on this issue.

BCCI president N. Srinivasan said: "The BCCI has received a letter from Mr. Kapil Dev, former India captain. Kapil Dev has informed the Board that he has resigned from the Essel Sports Private Limited / ICL. He has also stated in the letter that he has always supported the BCCI, and will continue to do so in the future.

"The BCCI acknowledges Kapil Dev's immense contribution to Indian cricket., and looks forward to a fruitful association with him in the years to come."

It is learnt that Srinivasan has taken personal initiative in bringing the 1983 World Cup winning captain back in the BCCI fold.

Kapil has finally relented on applying for amnesty after "fruitful discussions with the BCCI president."

Kapil, who joined as the chairman of the executive board of Indian Cricket League back in 2007, has never sought amnesty from the BCCI, but he has been invited for some of the functions organised by Cricket Board lately.

The amnesty entitles Kapil to Rs 1 crore as a part of BCCI's one-time benefit scheme and he will also start receiving pension once again. His arrears will also be cleared. (ANI)
