Chennai, July 24 (IANS) Fifth seeded Vijay Sundar Prasanth survived a strong challenge from Ashwin Vijayragavan and advanced to the second round of the Indian Oil Servo ITF Futures Men's tennis tournament here Tuesday.
Ashwin pushed Vijay Sundar in the first set, but could not maintain the momentum in the tie break. The second set was another close affair with both players demonstrating solid ground strokes. Ashwin broke Vijay Sunday in the 12th game to win the set 7-5.
In the third set, Vijay Sundar maintained his composure while Ashwin wilted under pressure and bowed out.
